Intralogistics

Intralogistics refers to the management, control, and optimization of internal logistics processes within an organization. It focuses on streamlining the flow of materials, information, and goods within a company’s premises, typically within a warehouse or distribution center. The goal of intralogistics is to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction through effective material handling, storage, and distribution.

intralogistics covers different aspects such as warehousing, material handling, inventory management, and order fulfillment. Elcom concentrates its efforts on material handling.

Case study in logistics industry

PROJECT

Our client, very important in the logistics industry, needs to transport an empty Europe pallet (800×1200) to a loading station, then, following robot information, evacuation of the loaded pallet (300kg) to a unloading point.

SOLUTION

For this project, we therefore set up 3 conveyors brought together to create a line adapted to the project. First of all, the TB90 Conveyor with edges and pallet detection, linked to the motorized roller conveyor with detection and control plate as well as the gravity conveyor with braked rollers.

In addition, we have added an unloading system with mechanical separation of the pallets at the exit.

Our solutions

  • Being able to quickly reorganize a production flow when changing packaging

  • Be able to manufacture personalized products in high-speed production, at the best cost/quality/time ratio

  • Overcoming environmental constraints – clean or gray rooms, aggressive, humid, dusty environments, etc.

  • Organize the ergonomics of your operators’ workstations.

What equipment is used in the logistics industry?

Intralogistics require fast, flexible conveyor lines. Elcom range is one of the largest one on the market with roller conveyors or belt conveyors.

Conveyor systems are facilitating smooth material flow and reducing manual handling. Combined with AGVs, and IoT technology, your operations in stock management, inventory, sorting will be mor efficient.

Our conveyors are know for low maintenance operations, accuracy of movements,  and high production rate.

Modular conveyors

Belt conveyors are essential equipment in the logistics industry. They consist of a continuous conveyor belt that can be made of rubber, canvas, PVC or other resistant materials. These conveyors are designed to move goods, packages or bulk materials quickly and efficiently over short or long distances, both inside and outside logistics facilities.

Use of belt conveyors in the logistics industry :

  • Goods movement: Belt conveyors allow goods to be moved from one point to another in warehouses and distribution centres without significant physical effort, reducing the need for manual handling and speeding up loading and unloading operations.
  • Continuous flow: Thanks to their continuous loop design, belt conveyors enable a smooth, uninterrupted flow of goods, improving supply chain efficiency and reducing waiting times.
  • Parcel sorting: Some belt conveyors are equipped with automated sorting systems that help direct parcels to the right destinations, resulting in faster order processing and fewer shipping errors.
  • Flexibility: Belt conveyors can be configured in a variety of ways to suit specific business needs. They can be straight, curved or inclined to follow the optimum layout within logistics facilities.
  • Loading/unloading: These conveyors are often used to quickly load and unload delivery trucks, reducing loading and unloading times and speeding up the delivery of goods to customers.

Conveyor Components

Conveyor components are the individual parts that make up belt conveyors. They are designed to ensure the proper operation, durability and safety of the equipment:

  • Conveyor Belt: The main component of the belt conveyor, a belt of durable material that transports goods from one point to another.

  • Control Systems: The electronic devices that manage the speed, stopping, starting and direction of movement of the conveyor belt.

  • Aluminum profiles to create your personalized structure.

What are the standards in the intralogistics ?

It’s important for organizations involved in intralogistics to consider and adhere to relevant standards to ensure compliance, promote best practices, and maintain a high level of operational performance and safety. Here are some commonly recognized standards in the intralogistics sector:

ISO 9001 : This international standard focuses on quality management systems. It provides a framework for organizations to implement processes that enhance customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, and continually improve their operations. ISO 9001 certification is widely recognized and demonstrates a commitment to quality management in intralogistics.

ISO 14001 : This standard addresses environmental management systems. It helps organizations identify and manage their environmental impact, reduce resource consumption, and promote sustainable practices. ISO 14001 certification is relevant for intralogistics operations seeking to minimize their ecological footprint and improve sustainability.

ISO 45001 : Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) is covered by ISO 45001. This standard helps organizations establish systems and processes to ensure the health and safety of their workers. It focuses on hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementing controls to prevent accidents and work-related illnesses in intralogistics settings.

EN 15629: This European standard specifically addresses the planning and design of automated warehouses and distribution centers. It provides guidelines for determining requirements, layout design, and operational considerations for efficient automated intralogistics systems.

GS1 Standards: GS1 standards facilitate the identification, capture, and sharing of information about products, locations, and assets throughout the supply chain. They include unique identification codes, such as GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)

ANSI/RIA R15.06: This standard, developed by the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), provides guidelines for the design, integration, and use of industrial robots

Compliance with these standards helps improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of intralogistics operations, while strengthening trust and quality of services in the sector.
