Transfer system

TLM 2000 pallet transfer system

To support the ramp-up of a new automotive production line, Elcom designed and delivered a robust, reliable and durable pallet transfer system. This project illustrates Elcom’s expertise in the design of custom industrial transfer solutions, perfectly integrated into existing production constraints.

Context and challenges

A major industrial player in the automotive sector initiated the launch of a new production program dedicated to compact vehicle platforms.
This development required a significant increase in production volumes, as well as an adaptation of the existing industrial equipment to ensure flow continuity, process reliability and long-term cost control.

The project took place within an already proven industrial environment, with a production line that had been operating for over fifteen years.
Feedback from this existing installation strongly influenced the technical choices made for the new system, particularly in terms of robustness, maintenance and overall reliability.

Project objectives

Implemented solution – Industrial pallet transfer system

The solution is based on a modular TLM 2000 pallet transfer system, specifically designed for demanding industrial environments and applications requiring a high level of reliability.

An industrial pallet transfer system enables the transport of workpiece carrier pallets along a predefined path, while ensuring precise positioning at the various workstations. This principle is particularly well suited to automotive production lines, where repeatability, robustness and ease of maintenance are critical criteria.

The TLM 2000 pallet transfer system stands out for its modular design, its ability to handle heavy loads, and the easy integration of advanced functions such as indexing, stops, diverters and return sections.

Key challenges and constraints

Elcom technology and expertise

Structural robustness

The system is based on a structure compatible with the H’8 40 aluminium profile range, ensuring increased rigidity. The uprights were specifically reinforced to eliminate the vibration phenomena identified on the previous production line.

Modularity and scalability

The modular pallet transfer system allows the integration of numerous standard components: stops, indexing units, cams, diverters, 180° return sections, 90° turning units, elevators or double cams. This modularity facilitates future upgrades and developments of the production line.

Reliability and reduced maintenance

The mechanical design limits sensitive areas and reduces maintenance requirements. The technical choices made help ensure smooth and reliable pallet circulation, including under environmental variations between summer and winter.

Pallet transfer system: results and benefits

Key benefits

On-site benefits

The system was assembled and tested in Elcom’s workshops. This made it possible to validate full system operation prior to delivery, thereby securing the future production start-up without immediate time constraints.

Focus: mechanical reliability and flow continuity

In automotive environments, flow continuity is a key factor in industrial performance. The TLM 2000 pallet transfer system was designed to ensure constant pallet circulation, regardless of operating conditions.

The mechanical management of the trajectories, combined with the structural reinforcement, ensures optimal process stability. This approach limits unplanned stoppages and directly contributes to the overall performance of the production line.
