In high value-added industrial environments, logistics performance relies on several key pillars. Safety, reliability and the perceived quality of equipment play a central role. This project illustrates Elcom’s ability to design complete custom motorized roller conveyor lines, meeting high requirements in terms of flow, ergonomics and industrial aesthetics.
Context and challenges
A major industrial player initiated the creation of a new logistics warehouse dedicated to the preparation and transit of high-value parcels. The objective was to secure flows while ensuring impeccable perceived quality, in line with industry standards. The conveying system had to be integrated into a newly built environment. It also had to remain scalable in order to support future site expansions.
Project objectives
The objective of the project was to:
- Implement a conveying system capable of handling a high volume of parcels on a daily basis.
- Secure operators and goods throughout the logistics area.
- Provide a reliable, quiet and durable solution, suited to a demanding industrial environment.
- Anticipate future site developments without calling the initial installation into question.
Key challenges and constraints
First, the diversity of parcel sizes required precise flow management in order to limit the risk of collisions. In addition, the customer imposed strict requirements in terms of noise levels and industrial safety.
Finally, the installation schedule had to remain optimized to allow for rapid commissioning. As a result, Elcom delivered the solution ready to be connected, making it possible to reduce on-site intervention time.
What is a motorized roller conveyor?
A motorized roller conveyor is an automated transfer system that enables the smooth and controlled movement of parcels or bins along straight or curved lines.
Each conveying zone has its own drive system. As a result, flows remain continuous and perfectly controlled. This allows precise management of speeds, accumulation areas and throughput.
In addition, this type of conveyor is particularly well suited to demanding logistics environments. It therefore meets requirements in terms of safety and simplified maintenance.
It also offers a high level of modularity, making integration into new or existing buildings easier.
Implemented solution
The system allows two distinct operating modes:
- Parcel train mode, for the simultaneous transfer of several parcels.
- One-by-one mode, ensuring controlled spacing and preventing any contact between parcels.
The main structure is based on aluminium profiles with 8 mm T-slots. It integrates tilting and silent modules in order to meet the acoustic requirements of the industrial sector. The system includes five conveying lines, incorporating 90° and 45° curves, ensuring smooth circulation within the warehouse.

The system’s modular design makes it possible to add or modify conveying sections without impacting the entire line. This approach ensures compatibility with an already planned site extension, including the addition of several additional workstations.

The system integrates numerous safety features: emergency stop devices distributed along the lines, lifelines for maintenance operations, and intelligent speed management to limit the risk of collisions.
The layout of components protects both operators and goods.
Maintenance and durability
Elcom selected components for their reliability and ease of replacement. A priced spare parts list is provided, simplifying both preventive and corrective maintenance. Finally, this approach contributes to the long-term durability of the installation and to the control of operating costs.
